Session 2: Panel Discussion
Session Chair: George C. Polyzos (AUEB, Greece)
Currently, there are a number of research efforts world-wide considering the Future Internet, many of them following a clean-slate approach and investigating novel Internet architectures and technologies. An increasing demand for highly scalable, timely and efficient distribution of content and information has motivated the development of architectures that focus on information objects, their properties, and receiver interest in the network to achieve effective dissemination of content and information. The Information-Centric Networking (ICN) approach emerges as a key paradigm, receiving increasing attention and departing from the host-to-host communication model of the current Internet.
This panel of distinguished researchers from both academia and industry will try to establish the state-of-the-art in ICN (what we know and agree on) and pose key open questions and future research directions in the area.
The panel participants:
- Bengt Ahlgren, SICS, Sweden
- Van Jacobson, PARC, USA
- Teemu Koponen, ICSI, USA
- Ramesh Sitaraman, University of Massachusetts, Amherst & Akamai, USA
- Dirk Trossen, University of Cambridge, UK
